What is Body Percussion Team Building for companies?
We often believe that achieving something meaningful requires substantial resources: technology, materials, instruments, staging. Body Percussion Team Building starts from the opposite principle: when access to resources is limited, it is the team’s co-ordination, creativity and attitude that make the difference.
This activity uses no instruments, no staging and no high volume. Just the body (claps, feet, clicks, chest beats), rhythm and the group working in synchrony. The experience shows that when faced with pressure or scarcity, the real strength lies in how the team works.
We offer 2 formats: Body Percussion (45 min, standard format) and Body Percussion + Singing (1h15, adding melody and voice to the body rhythm). This music team building activity is the perfect option for hotels, large conventions, working offices and any venue where batucada with instruments is not viable.

- Sound system for groups of 30+ included

BENEFITS OF BODY PERCUSSION
What your team gains from Body Percussion
No high volume
With no physical instruments, the sound stays contained and adjustable. Ideal for hotels, working offices or shared venues where loud noise is not an option.
Scales to very large groups
With no instruments there is no logistical ceiling. It works from 10 people to several hundred, with no additional equipment to transport. The body is the only kit required.
Rhythmic mindfulness
Absolute concentration, active listening and motor co-ordination. Ideal for groups that need to focus: strategic kick-offs, change management days or moments of high pressure.
Synchrony without words
The team learns to co-ordinate using body signals and rhythm alone. An experience that transfers straight to work: non-verbal communication, attention and quick response.
We are not an agency: you work directly with professional musicians
There are no middlemen here. We are not an agency that subcontracts the activity. We are the very team that designs and runs it. In many team building proposals, whoever sells the activity is not the one who delivers it. In our case it is.
We have been working with groups for over 20 years, combining musical and teaching experience so that every participant understands, enjoys and forms part of the result.
That lets us adapt the Body Percussion approach to the type of event, the moment the team is in and the message you want to convey.
And because you work with us directly, the process is quicker, clearer and free of unnecessary mark-ups.

Body Percussion Team Building video at a corporate event
It is not just about making music with your body. It is about watching a group that starts out saying “I have no rhythm” end up synchronised, listening and creating a powerful collective expression from the most essential thing of all.
How can Body Percussion be adapted to each team?
No limit on PAX
45' base or 1h15 +singing

Indoors only, no carpet
How Body Percussion Team Building works
The activity is designed so that any group, even one that believes it “has no rhythm”, can move forward step by step from the first body sounds to a shared final performance. The facilitator guides the shift from initial chaos to collective synchrony.
The master of ceremonies guides the group through a short reflection on how first impressions can mislead us. How many times have we assumed something would be complicated, pointless or impossible, only to discover afterwards that it was a great opportunity?
Participants are given instruments and split into sections according to their role: the surdos keep the pulse, the tamborines add drive and the agogôs bring in the nuances that are essential to cohesion. Each person learns their rhythmic pattern with no previous experience needed.
Once everyone has mastered their individual rhythm, the next challenge is to bring the sections together so the team sounds as one. Participants experience in real time how important active listening is, how every role, however small, is essential to collective success, and how non-verbal communication and synchronisation build trust and flow within the team
The moment comes to break the barrier between theory and action. All the participants come together in one great batucada, feeling the power of rhythm and collective energy.
The master of ceremonies leads a reflective close on the experience, highlighting how the team moved from initial scepticism to flow and confidence. The group reflects on how this mindset can carry over into working life, helping them face challenges with confidence and as a team.

When to choose Body Percussion over Batucada
Both Batucada Team Building and Body Percussion are DTB’s two flagship activities for energising teams through rhythm. The difference lies in the context: each works better depending on the type of venue and the size of the group.
Choose Body Percussion when: your event is in a hotel with other rooms in use, in an office during working hours, at a large convention with hundreds of people, or in any venue where high volume is not an option. Also when you are looking for rhythmic mindfulness, a strategic kick-off or work on active listening.
Choose Batucada when: you have an isolated space where noise is not a problem, a medium-sized group (20-150 PAX) and you want a more festive, high-energy activity. Batucada with physical instruments creates a greater sensory impact but requires additional logistics.
If you are torn between the two, book a free video call and we will help you choose for your specific event.

From Doubt to Synchrony
Chaos vs Synchrony
That initial doubt is the voice of the fear of looking bad. It is understandable: when somebody hears “we are going to make music with our bodies”, the first thing they think of is what they cannot do. The mind looks for reasons to avoid exposure, the supposed embarrassment, the feeling of having nothing to contribute to the group.
✖ “I have no rhythm, I’m going to throw everyone off.”
✖ “Are we really going to make music with our bodies? That sounds odd to me.”
✖ “This is going to sound chaotic, it won’t work.”
✖ “I have no co-ordination, everyone will notice I’m the worst one.”
✖ “What if I can’t keep up with the group’s rhythm?”
These thoughts are the voice of the fear of looking foolish, not the voice of the team. And the problem is not what they are thinking: it is that while they are thinking it, they are not listening to the group. While they are not listening, they are not synchronising. And while they are not synchronising, the activity does not work, the team does not connect and the company’s investment does not deliver the impact it should.
That is why Body Percussion is not designed as an individual test where everyone has to prove they have rhythm. It is designed the other way round: the group is the instrument, not the person. Each participant contributes only their part (low, mid or high) and the rhythmic responsibility is shared out. Nobody holds the rhythm alone, everybody builds it together.
… With collective synchrony. In Body Percussion Team Building, participants experience at first hand the shift in mindset that happens when they stop thinking individually and start listening to the group:
✔ “I don’t need to know music, just listen and follow the group.”
✔ “Each rhythm makes sense once it connects with the others.”
✔ “We went from noise to synchrony without even noticing.”
✔ “When you stop thinking and start listening, it just happens.”
✔ “What seemed impossible turned into something powerful and shared.”
And this is where the real magic of Body Percussion appears: the exercise forces the group to develop active listening, non-verbal communication and fine synchronisation. Exactly the same skills a team needs day to day at work, but trained in a setting where the external resources are taken away and only the essential is left: human co-ordination.
The one who said “I have no rhythm” discovers that what they really had was fear. The one who felt small within the group finds their role inside the collective ensemble. The informal leader emerges, organising the rhythm groups. The newest recruit fits in without a word being needed. All of that happens naturally while the group creates music with their bodies, with no instruments, no staging and, most importantly, no high volume to disturb the hotel, the office or the room next door.
That is why it works so well at strategic kick-offs, organisational change days and moments when the team needs to focus: because it trains listening and synchrony in their purest form, with no external distractions. And at the end of the workshop, what they remember is not the activity: they remember having co-ordinated with their team from the most essential starting point of all.
Logistics and location
We travel to wherever you are
We take care of everything; all we need is an indoor space with no carpet. The acoustics of the body (claps, feet, clicks) need a firm surface so the sounds carry properly. For groups of 30+ we include amplified sound.
We run Body Percussion Team Building across Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, the Balearics and the Canaries. And if you are outside our borders, we can come to you there too! We travel to wherever the event is being held with everything required.
Why INDOORS with no carpet?
For Body Percussion we need to be indoors, always and with no carpet. Body acoustics (claps, chest beats, footsteps) need an enclosed room where the sound reflects properly, and a firm surface (wood, parquet, staging) so the feet can be heard. Carpet absorbs the low end and the activity loses its power.
Footwear and dress code?
We recommend flat shoes with no heels: the feet are one of the main instruments (footsteps act as the low end). Heeled shoes prevent natural movement and compromise the sound quality. Dress can be formal or casual — the activity works just as well with any dress code.
Format and personalisation
2 formats available: Body Percussion (45 min, 1 facilitator) or Body Percussion + Singing (1h15, 2 facilitators: percussion + melody). The +singing format adds voice and melody work and is ideal for groups looking for a fuller experience of collective music-making. We tailor the rhythms and exercises to the profile of the group.
We'll help you choose between Body Percussion and Batucada (free video call)
Every event is different. And between Body Percussion and Batucada there are concrete operational decisions that matter: the venue, the size of the group, the moment the team is in and the objectives of the event.
That is why we offer a short, free video call in which we help you work out whether Body Percussion or Batucada fits your event better, which format to choose (percussion only or +singing), the duration and the approach.
Our aim is not just to run the activity, but to make sure it makes sense within what you want to achieve with your team.
// Frequently asked questions about Body Percussion Team Building
Do I need to know music or have rhythm?
Not at all. There are no instruments to play and the challenges are designed so that anyone can take part with no musical knowledge. The facilitator guides the group from the simplest sounds (claps, footsteps) to more complex combinations, and the team synchronises progressively. If somebody says “I have no rhythm”, they are probably the one who will be most surprised by the end.
How is it different from Batucada?
Batucada uses physical instruments (surdos, tamborines, repiques) and generates a lot of volume. Body Percussion uses only the body (claps, feet, clicks, chest beats) and the volume stays contained. That is why Body Percussion is ideal for hotels, offices during working hours, large conventions and shared venues where batucada would not be viable. It also scales to larger groups with no instruments to transport.
What is the difference between the 2 formats?
We have 2 formats: Body Percussion (45 min, 1 facilitator) works on body rhythm alone. Body Percussion + Singing (1h15, 2 facilitators) adds melody and voice work to the body rhythm. The singing format is ideal for groups looking for a fuller experience of collective music-making, while the standard one is perfect as a strategic energiser or as part of a longer programme.
Why do we need an indoor space with no carpet?
Body acoustics need a firm surface. Carpet absorbs the low sounds (footsteps, chest beats) and the activity loses impact and energy. An indoor room with a wooden, parquet, staging or concrete floor works perfectly. It can also be an indoor space with a platform or stage if your venue has one.
What footwear should participants wear?
We recommend flat shoes with no heels. The feet are one of the main instruments (footsteps act as the low sounds) and heeled shoes prevent natural movement. The rest of what you wear can be formal or casual, it makes no difference to the activity.
What is the maximum number of people?
There is no technical limit on participants. The activity scales to very large groups because it does not need a physical instrument per person, only the body. The only thing that shapes the experience is the space: every participant needs to be able to see the facilitator and have room to move freely. For groups of 30+ we include amplified sound.
In which situations is it better than Batucada?
There are 4 situations where Body Percussion works better: 1) in hotels with other rooms or guests (it does not generate high volume), 2) in offices during working hours, 3) at large conventions with hundreds of people (it scales better without instruments), 4) in shared venues such as convention centres where noise is not allowed. It is also the option for groups looking for a more reflective activity, rhythmic mindfulness rather than a festive experience.
Does it work if part of the group does not speak Spanish?
Yes. We adapt the facilitation to the language of the group. We work in Spanish, English and Catalan, so an international or mixed team is no problem. And most of the activity is non-verbal: body rhythm is understood universally.
Does it work as a main activity or as a complement?
Both. As a main activity it works perfectly at strategic kick-offs, team workshops and change management days (45 min standard or 1h15 with singing). As a complement it is ideal within longer programmes: it breaks the monotony after theory blocks, energises the group before lunch or closes a session with collective energy. The 45-minute format is especially effective as a strategic energiser.
How much does Body Percussion cost?
The price depends on several factors: number of participants, location, chosen format (percussion only or +singing) and whether amplified sound is required. Request a proposal and we will send you the exact quote the same day.
